From the early days of the its establishment to 1965, the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) has made over 20 scientific breakthroughs. From 1978 to 2000, scientific achievements, such as forestry sprinkler irrigation machinery, KDZ tree planting machine, artificial rainfall machine, lightweight power digging machine, and self-propelled seedling changing technology, won the Award of National Science Conference, Liangxi Forestry Science and Technology Award and other awards at provincial level. A number of scientific studies and key equipment with application prospects have been successively developed, which has significantly improved the development and upgrading of forestry machinery technology and equipment.

In recent years, the forestry machinery developed by the Chinese Academy of Forestry has made more than 300 scientific outputs in the fields of woody grain and oil, forestry seedling cultivation, forest and grass disaster and disease prevention and control, comprehensive utilization of forest and grass resources, intelligent forest and grass machinery, and desertification prevention and control equipment. Over 1,000 units (sets) of machineries have been invented by transforming the scientific outputs. More than 100 national and industrial standards have been formulated and revised, which not only provides essential technical support for the development of national forestry and grassland undertakings, but also makes important contributions to the development of the forestry machinery industry at home and abroad.

For its contribution, the Chinese Academy of Forestry has obtained over 60 scientific and technological related awards on machineries at the national, provincial, ministerial and industry levels. Among them, a series of independently developed products have been widely used in forestry production and ecological construction, including complete sets of factory-based seedling equipment, silviculture equipment, desertification control equipment, technical equipment for oil and tea industry, forest fire prevention equipment, and understory economic and technical equipment, making positive contributions to the green development, high-quality and sustainable development of China's forestry and grassland sector.
